SCI 1620 - Neuroscience of Behavior

This course is designed for undergraduate non-science majors interested in a deeper understanding of human behavior that comes from a biological perspective. In the last few years, the field of neuroscience of behavior has exploded with discoveries on how the brain changes during learning, the role genes and epigenetic factors play in the adoption of maladaptive behaviors, and how neural connectivity and neural networks function or fail to function. Physiology is a significant component of how motivation and emotion is derived, how we perceive the world around us with which we must interact, and how cognition, learning, and memory can be affected by genetics and/or environmental factors.
3 semester hr(s).
