Philosophy, Politics, and Economics

The major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics integrates conversations from various intellectual disciplines into a single major. The program is composed of courses in economics, political philosophy, and theology and culture to uncover the major ideas that shape our world. Students who complete this program are ideally suited to enter the sphere of public service or for further graduate work.

In addition to the Core Curriculum and Christian Studies Minor , Philosophy, Politics, and Economics majors must complete the following:

Philosophy, Politics, and Economics - 30 hours

ECO 2500 - Introduction to Economics 3 semester hr(s).
ECO 2650 - Principles of Finance 3 semester hr(s).
POL 3500 - American Government 3 semester hr(s).
HIS 3650 - American Constitutional Development 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 3510 - Seminar in Theology & Culture 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 3520 - Seminar in Philosophy and Science 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 3530 - Seminar in History and Politics 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 4599 - Senior Colloquium: History of Ideas 3 semester hr(s).
Choose ONE of the following Ethics selectives:
ETH 4630 - Ethics of War and Peace 3 semester hr(s).
ETH 4650 - Ethics of Wealth and Poverty 3 semester hr(s).
ETH 4620 - Christian Ethics and the State 3 semester hr(s).
ETH 4660 - Social Justice and Race Relations 3 semester hr(s).
Choose ONE of the following Philosophy selectives:
PHI 2500 - Christian Philosophy: Worldview, Western Thought, and Apologetics 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 3550 - Epistemology 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 3570 - Modern & Contemporary Philosophy 3 semester hr(s).
