The major in Humanities introduces students to the influential ideas of Western civilization. Students read great works of literature, history, philosophy, theology, and political theory and interact with them from a Christian perspective. Additional courses in philosophy, literature, and history prepare students for graduate work in seminary, classical studies, literature, history, law, or any other field in the liberal arts.

In addition to the General Studies and Christian Studies requirements , Humanities majors must complete the following:

Humanities - 42 Hours

HOI 3510 - Seminar in Theology & Culture 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 3520 - Seminar in Philosophy and Science 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 3530 - Seminar in History and Politics 3 semester hr(s).
HOI 4599 - Senior Colloquium: History of Ideas 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 2500 - Christian Philosophy: Worldview, Western Thought, and Apologetics 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 3510 - Logic 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 3520 - Rhetoric 3 semester hr(s).
PHI 3550 - Epistemology 3 semester hr(s).
ENG 3500 - World Literature 3 semester hr(s).

Choose any History course (3000 level or above):

Complete the following pair of foreign language courses:

LAT 2610 - Latin I 3 semester hr(s).
LAT 2620 - Latin II 3 semester hr(s).
