Undergraduate Degrees

Introduction

The College at Southeastern is a school of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The College offers undergraduate associate and baccalaureate degree programs as well as a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies.

The core of each Undergraduate degree requires courses from the following three areas of knowledge: humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, and natural sciences and mathematics. Click here to view the breakdown of each core requirement.

Degrees and Requirements
  • All Bachelor of Arts  students at The College at Southeastern complete a selected major and a minor in Christian Studies. Students may also select a second major or a second minor.  The Core Curriculum is composed of two elements: General Studies (48 hrs) and Christian Studies minor (24 hrs). Any hours remaining after the student’s first major, the Christian studies minor and any additional major and minor are free electives.
  • All Bachelor of Science  students at The College of Southeastern complete a major (45 hrs), a General Studies Core Curriculum (36 hrs), and vocational training electives (45 hrs). The vocational training elective hours must be satisfied by one of the following options:
  1. Transfer into The College at Southeastern with a tent-making A.A./A.S. degree from a community college;
  2. Dual enroll at The College at Southeastern and a community college in order to receive theological and vocational training at the same time; students must provide documentation from the community college outlining the vocational degree or certification requirements they will be pursuing;
  3. Complete Business Minor  and satisfy the remaining hours with free electives

Note: The Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies  is administered by The College at Southeastern.

Undeclared Students

Many students are undecided about their major when they enter the College at Southeastern. Students who do not have a clear idea of which major to pursue are designated as Undeclared students.

Undeclared students must be admitted into either the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree even though they have not yet declared a major of study. Undeclared students follow a track of courses that will allow them to progress toward graduation by completing general education courses before declaring a major.

While it is proper to explore choices, students should also pursue a course of study that culminates in graduation. For this reason, there is a limit to the length of time students may remain Undeclared students. Before completing 63 hours, students who have entered the College at Southeastern must officially declare a major before the next term of enrollment.

Students can formally declare a major at any time during the first two years of their degree. Once a student declares and is admitted into a major of study, they will be under the degree requirements of the academic catalog current at the time they are admitted into the major.
