PhD in Preaching

The Ph.D. degree at Southeastern is an advanced degree in the area of preaching. The Ph.D. in Preaching is delivered in a modified residency format. Each seminar is delivered over the normal period of other seminars and contains an on-campus experience, as well as, supplemental asynchronous components before and after the on-campus experience.

PhD in Preaching Degree Requirements - 60 hours

PHD 9101 - Introduction to Research and Integration 2 semester hr(s).
PHD 9102 - Introduction to Teaching in Higher Education 3 semester hr(s).
CQM 9001 - Integrative Colloquium: Biblical Studies 1 semester hr(s).
CQM 9002 - Integrative Colloquium: Theological Studies 1 semester hr(s).
CQM 9003 - Integrative Colloquium: Applied Theological Studies 1 semester hr(s).
BTI 9600 - Seminar in Biblical Hermeneutics 3 semester hr(s).
PRS 9600 - Seminar in Expository Preaching 3 semester hr(s).
PRS 9650 - The Theology of Preaching 3 semester hr(s).
PRS 9800 - The Preaching Tradition 3 semester hr(s).
PRS 9900 - Current Trends in Preaching 3 semester hr(s).
LED 9320 - Biblical Foundations for Leadership 3 semester hr(s). (May be substituted for another PhD seminar by the approval of the PhD student’s major professor.)
LED 9355 - The Personal Life of the Leader 3 semester hr(s). (May be substituted for another PhD seminar by the approval of the PhD student’s major professor.)
IND 9400 - Specialized Ph.D. Research 3 semester hr(s).
PHD 9501 - Mentor Directed Studies I 3 semester hr(s).
PHD 9502 - Mentor Directed Studies II 3 semester hr(s).
PHD 9800 - Written & Oral Comprehensive Exams 4 semester hr(s).
PHD 9850 - PHD Prospectus 1 semester hr(s).
PHD 9900 - PHD Dissertation 4 semester hr(s). Students must register for 16 hrs of PhD Dissertation.
PHD 9950 - PHD Dissertation Defense 1 semester hr(s).
