Southeastern’s Certificate of Worship Ministry is a 7-course program of study offered to anyone desiring to increase proficiency in leading music and worship in a local church, on the mission field, or anywhere else in God’s Kingdom. These courses will be offered in specific sections of online classes, and in some specific sections of on-campus classes. This program can be completed 100% online, or through a combination of online and specific on-campus course offerings. The program is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate the schedule of working students, as well as those with family responsibilities.
Through this program, students will be exposed to the myriad of aspects that today’s worship leader may encounter. These courses will provide both the knowledge and experience needed to minister effectively in the constantly evolving paradigm of worship. Courses will include a foundational knowledge in the theology of worship, tools for success in serving a church, and the musical fundamentals necessary to lead others.
Students taking courses for certificate level credit in the Certificate for Worship Ministry will pay the equivalent of one credit hour of on-campus course tuition plus any applicable fees. The workload for certificate level credit includes full participation in all lecture and interactive assignments, but only the equivalent of one credit hour of reading and writing assignments. The specific assignments and workload will be detailed in the course syllabus. The Course Descriptions will all indicate 3 hrs, however certificate students will do equivalent work and pay for only 1 hr.
When combined with proper leveling course work, credits earned in the Certificate of Worship Ministry can be applied toward other degrees at Southeastern.
