Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary offers the Masters of Arts Biblical Languages (MABL) to enable students to interpret the biblical text from the original languages. It will prepare students for faithful interpretation of Scripture in various ministry settings, and for advanced academic study of the Biblical languages beyond the Master of Divinity degree. The MABL degree is completed normally within two years of full-time enrollment.
Admissions Requirements
The MA Biblical Languages presupposes undergraduate preparation in biblical, theological, and ministry studies from an accredited institution. Students must have completed 6 hours of theological studies and 6 hours of ministry studies, as well as 6 hours in New Testament (including survey), 6 hours in Old Testament (including survey), and 6 hours of Biblical Greek in their undergraduate coursework to be admitted into this program. Students who lack any of the necessary foundational coursework may take the appropriate remedial courses at SEBTS. Courses taken as prerequisites cannot also be used in the MABL degree requirements.
