The Master of Arts Old Testament prepares students for further academic study of the Old Testament. Graduates will be prepared for doctoral work in Old Testament and related fields, teaching at the undergraduate level, and using the Old Testament in vocational ministry. Students applying to this program must have a completed bachelor’s degree that includes 6 hours of Biblical Hebrew, 6 hours of Biblical Greek, 6 hours of New Testament (including survey), 6 hours of Old Testament (including survey), 6 hours of theological studies, and 6 hours of practical ministry.
Admissions Requirements
Application for admission should be made at least 60 days prior to matriculation. Admission to this degree is based upon the following requirements: 1. A set of completed standard application forms an MA Old Testament application form. 2. Minimum of 3.0 GPA in an accredited baccalaureate degree program. Applicants with degrees from colleges or universities outside the United States will be considered on an individual basis. 3. Five references (non-family): 1 pastor, 2 character, 2 academic. 4. A graded research paper from a graduate or undergraduate course. Alternatively, the GRE Writing Assessment will be accepted. 5. Applicants for whom English is a second language must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (100 on the internet-based TOEFL) or present an equivalent demonstration of an ability to read and write English at a graduate level.
