HEB 7950 - Comparative Semitic Linguistics A comparative study of the phonology, morphology and cognate vocabulary of the Semitic language family, as well as a survey of the individual languages that provide the necessary data for the reconstruction of Proto-Semitic language and culture. 3 semester hr(s). Prerequisite(s): HEB 6500 /HEB 3610 Hebrew Syntax and Exegesis. An intermediate level knowledge of at least one Semitic language is necessary to function in the class. Every other fall, according to the course sequence in the MA in Old Testament.
